This delicious combo of sweet, salty, tangy and tasty, beef stir fry is brought to life by the hoisin sauce of which the Three Kings Pantry ‘Zero’ Maple Syrup Flavour Sauce is the star of the show. The steak is marinated in Three Kings Pantry Salted Caramel Syrup which infuses depth of flavour into the meat and the sesame seeds and red pepper add crunch and texture.

Ingredients

  • ⦁ Light spray (1/2 tsp) of Sunflower or Sesame oil

  • ⦁ 180g Lean Sirloin or Frying Steak (thinly sliced across the grain)

  • ⦁ 1 Medium Red Pepper (sliced)

  • ⦁ 1 tsp of Sesame Seeds

  • For the marinade
  • ⦁ 1 Clove Garlic (finely chopped)

  • ⦁ 1 tsp Fresh Grated Ginger (or ginger paste from a jar)

  • ⦁ 20ml of Three Kings Pantry Salted Caramel Syrup

  • For the Hoisin Sauce
  • ⦁ 1/2 heaped tsp Tahini

  • ⦁ 50 ml Three Kings Pantry ‘Zero’ Maple Flavour Sauce

  • ⦁ 1 tsp Sherry Vinegar

  • ⦁ 1 Garlic Clove

  • ⦁ Black Pepper

  • ⦁ 2 tbsp Soy sauce

Method

  • Place the sliced steak in a bowl and add the marinade ingredients. Mix together and chill in the fridge for an hour or so, to let the flavours infuse.
  • Place the hoisin sauce ingredients in a small food processor (or place in a jug and use a hand-held blender) and blitz until smooth (store in an airtight container in a fridge until ready to use).
  • Heat a heavy-based frying pan and add the sesame seeds, toast over a high heat, stirring, for a few minutes until golden. Tip on to a plate and set aside.
  • For the beef stir-fry, heat the oil in a frying pan until hot, add the marinated steak and cook for 1 -2 minutes until lightly brown, add the red peppers and cook for another 1-2 minutes until cooked through. Add the hoisin sauce and stir-fry for a final minute.
  • Sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds and serve with boiled rice and more soy sauce to taste.
